If you've checked out the links section of this site, you may have read about my friend Anna Huckabee Tull, the mastermind behind Custom Crafted Songs who composes original songs based on the input of those who commission her to do so. It's a pretty cool concept when you think about it - from couples who want an original wedding song to therapeutic music that helps people deal with issues in their daily lives, just about anyone can approach Anna with a topic or an idea, and she'll turn that into a musical experience that delivers tremendous personal impact. I get regular updates from Anna and so I've heard nearly all of the works she's commissioned.
This week, she released one of her latest accomplishments, entitled Song of Myself, and let me tell you, it's worth a listen. The story of how the song came together is interesting, and you can read about that about on her site. The song itself builds itself around a delicate melody, (slightly reminiscent of the era when the Indigo Girls were at the top of their game), and offers a beautiful vocal performance by Anna. Do me a favor and check it out. You can read the history behind the making of the song - and to listen to it at Custom Crafted Songs.
